Monthly Calendar
Still Water Fall Practice Retreat at Blue Cliff Monastery
Wed, November 1 – Sun, November 5
Wed, November 1, 2:00 pm–2:00 pm

Still Water practitioners will have an opportunity this November to practice with the monastics of Blue Cliff Monastery. We will follow the daily monastic schedule which includes sitting and walking meditation, working meditation, silent meals, Dharma talks, and Days of Mindfulness on Thursdays and Sundays. In addition, we will have our own Dharma sharing groups and other activities, plus many hours for personal practice, walks on the trails around the monastery, and conversations with old and new friends. (Tentative schedule available here.)
Blue Cliff Monastery is one of three monasteries in the USA founded by Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh. Located near the town of Pine Bush, in the Hudson Valley of New York State, the monastery is about a five hour mindful drive from downtown Silver Spring. (Still Water will assist participants in creating car pools so that they can save energy and deepen friendships.)
Participants will have two registration options:
To arrive on Wednesday afternoon for a four night stay that ends on Sunday afternoon.
To arrive on Friday afternoon for a two night stay that ends on Sunday afternoon.
Although there will be no program specifically for children, they are welcome to attend with their parents or guardians.
Registration will open in September and will be managed by Blue Cliff monastery. The cost will be the daily rate for a seasonal stay at the monastery. The daily rate include accommodations, meals, and all activities, and varies according to the type of accommodation and the status of the practitioner (adult, senior, student, unemployed, teen, or child).
Financial support may be available for Still Water practitioners for whom even the unemployed rate would be a hardship.
If you are interested in attending, please complete our sign-up form. It will help us with planning and we will send you an email when Blue Cliff opens registrations for our retreat.
If you have questions, please contact Still Water at info@StillWaterMPC.org.
