Mindfulness practitioners from the Washington DC and Baltimore areas and from many other parts of the country are supporting the People’s Climate March in Washington on Saturday, April 29, 2017. It’s looking like it will be an enjoyable and nourishing day.

Mindfulness practitioners and other Buddhist groups will come together for a 9:30 to 11:00 am meditation and program at Upper Senate Park, a five minute walk from Union Station. An overview of the Buddhist gathering is on the OneEarthSangha Website (Scroll Down). When you arrive at Upper Senate Park, or if you are looking for mindfulness practitioners later in the day, look for the large vertical banner with the quote and picture of Thich Nhat Hanh (see below). Six monastics from Blue Cliff Monastery will be with us and Sr. Ocean will be one of the speakers during the Buddhist gathering.

Order of Interbeing members are encouraged to wear their brown coats. Everyone is encouraged to wear or carry sunflowers: pins, badges, shirts, pictures, drawings, banners, etc. There will also be banners from the Earth Holder Sangha and other mindfulness communities.

March participants will begin gathering as contingents at 11 am. Buddhist groups will join other spiritual communities in the Faith contingent. The actually marching should begin around 12:30. The plan is to surround the White House at 2 pm and engage in a variety of activities there. Participants will then move on to the Washington Monument where there will be a rally and speakers from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Details about the March Schedule, Rules of Conduct and What to Bring are available on the Peoplesclimate.org website.

Please share this information with others who might wish to join us.
