Sat, January 7, 9:00 am–12:00 pm
In the Still Water MPC we often recite together the Five Mindfulness Trainings at our weekly gatherings. The trainings remind us of our deep aspiration to live every day with a calm mind and an open heart. They provide invaluable guidelines for mindful living.
The trainings enter us most deeply when we receive them formally, in a Five Mindfulness Trainings transmission ceremony. This transmission publicly joins us with the tradition of mindfulness practice passed from teacher to student in an unbroken line from the Buddha, through many Indian, Chinese, and Vietnamese teachers, through Thich Nhat Hanh, to us.
On Saturday, January 7, 2023, the Still Water Mindfulness Practice Center will join with the Mindfulness Practice Center of Fairfax for the transmission of the Three Refuges and the Five Mindfulness Trainings. The online and in-person (at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Oakton, Virginia) ceremony will begin at 9:00 am (Eastern time) and end no later than noon. For those considering receiving the trainings, please see our announcement about our Five Mindfulness Trainings preparatory classes. If you would like to receive or renew the Mindfulness Trainings through the Still Water MPC, please complete the online application.
All Still Water practitioners are invited to attend the transmission ceremony. It is a joyous and heartening community event and our presence will support those who are receiving the Mindfulness Trainings.
The registration link for the online ceremony will be sent in late December to all who subscribe to the weekly Still Water announcement, and to all who have applied to receive or renew the Mindfulness Trainings through the Still Water MPC.
